The racial makeup of the CDP was 84.21% White, 0.89% Black or African American, 1.46% Native American, 0.66% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 9.12% from other races, and 3.61% from two or more races. 21.86% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 6,250 households out of which 28.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.3% were married couples living together, 14.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 38.4% were non-families. 31.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.41 and the average family size was 3.02.
